The Family Garden

Nestled at the edge of small village, this garden had had the terrace and paths had been installed the year before, but the borders remained empty. The clients were unsure what plants to choose and asked for my help.

With a young family and an adorable dog, they needed space for playing and entertaining, and were open to anything!

Following measuring and surveying the site, I shared a plan to increase the size of the planted areas by more than double - something I often suggest. I also planned a meadow area, to bring the surrounding fields into the garden, with seating to allow parents to rest while the children use the play equipment.

The finished design encourages exploration down into the garden and adds interest, not just through the plants, but all the bees and butterflies they attract. The lawn was reduced, but still big enough for fetch and football, with plants that can withstand a few balls.
